Muzi's Room

Based on personal experience, this experimental film follows Muzi drifting through dreamlike spaces of childhood memories, grief, growth and pain. As fire consumes everything, memory becomes both wound and refuge. Ultimately, Muzi gathers strength from love, passion, and friendship, and finally says farewell to the past.

Muzi's Room is a film about my process of recovering from grief.

I want to visualize how the pain of loss seeps into a person's safe space, ultimately changing their attitude toward life. The shared memories simultaneously painful wounds and the fuel that keeps us moving forward.

In the film, the rooms are always presented from the same point of view and float statically in the darkness, representing memories. The constantly moving train, on the other hand, symbolizes the passage of time, the progression of age, and the ongoing processes of life. The rooms are generally constructed with simple lines and colors, reflecting pure emotions, while the train is composed of various mediums and rich colors, representing the complexity of reality. Through the contrasts between movement and stillness, simplicity and complexity, the film expresses the tension between reality and memory that we experience while processing grief.

After the world’s oceans were contaminated by nuclear pollution, humanity was forced to migrate and live in deserts far away from the sea. Many years later, influenced by his great-grandfather, a sea-loving captain, a young boy named Azure decides to sneak out of the safe zone city and set off toward the ocean. Along the way, he witnesses many new landscapes—scenery that was once familiar to humans a century ago but has now been drastically altered by nuclear radiation. Yet, to Azure, everything is full of wonder and novelty. During this journey, he constantly gains and loses… By the time he reaches his destination, what kind of person will he have become?

Short Film

There’s no class in the world that teaches you how to become an adult. I always feel like I’m just a child hiding inside an adult’s body, pretending to be grown-up every day. That little child once dreamed of becoming an adult, imagining all the wonders the adult world would bring. By a twist of fate, they come across a special piece of candy. After eating it, they suddenly realize they’ve been transported to their 22-year-old future.
